Allison Chinchar, a CNN and HLN meteorologist at CNN and HLN. She appears regularly on CNN's 'New Day Weekend" and HLN's "Weekend Express', as well as CNN International programming. Prior to being hired by CNN in June 2015 she worked as meteorologist for local stations in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a meteorologist for hurricanes and blizzards as well as flooding, wildfires and was awarded an Emmy for the coverage she gave of Hurricane Dorian that struck the Bahamas during the year of 2019. In April 2011 she reported on super tornado outbreak, in which 350 tornadoes struck Southeastern United States within four days. More than 200 occurred on April 27, 2011. Chinchar has reported on weather patterns, climate change and the eruptions of volcanoes and earthquakes as a result of her environmental science background. Chinchar holds a Bachelor's degree of Atmospheric Science, which she obtained from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
