Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She's the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, television personality, philanthropist as well as the owner and publisher of The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was in Greece then moved to England at age sixteen. At Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in economics. She was the first person from outside the UK to become president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. In the years following after her college graduation, she became an influential Conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current politics. She was able to get numerous prominent contributors to post their thoughts regarding politics and culture. Arianna first gained notoriety when she ran in the California recall election in the place of Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of an Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes listed her as the most influential woman in media in 2009. The newspaper was ranked as at 12th place on their ranking. The Guardian also included her on the list of 100 most influential media in 2009. AOL, Inc. appointed her President of their media division in 2011, after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included additional AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. She was very close with her father, but it was her bond with her mother which has shaped her. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. When she was 16 years old, she moved over to her home in United Kingdom for her higher education. In Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female president and only foreign president. In 1972 she received a degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she worked as a journalist and TV host. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
